Introducing the central herbarium of Farzanegan campuz

An herbarium is a collection of dried and preserved plants and information about them that is used for scientific studies. The term can be applied to a building or room where a complex is maintained or to an institution that not only maintains but also uses it. Plant specimens can be whole plants or parts of plants that are usually dried and pasted on a sheet of paper.

The Central Herbarium Foundation of Farzanegan University was established in 2015 by Dr. Fatemeh Rabizadeh, Professor of Botany. At present, this herbarium, with the efforts of Dr. Rabizadeh and the laboratory expert of Ms. Salavatian and systematic plant students of this university, has more than 7000 dried plants of mosses, ferns, deciduous, monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants. The purpose of forming this herbarium is to create a genetic repository of native species of Semnan and facilitate botanical research in this city.

Herbarium of Farzanegan University is the first herbarium in Semnan University and despite this volume of plant species, it is ready to serve other scientific departments of universities. This herbarium has plant species from most parts of Iran, especially Semnan province. Most of the native plant species of Semnan province that are often endangered are kept in this herbarium, some of these species are as follows:
